The Serie A giants are on the verge of being banned from European club competitions for breaching UEFA Financial Fair Play regulations this season. Milan broke the bank last summer to challenge for the Italian title, signing Bonucci, Andre Silva, Andrea Conti and Hakan Calhanoglu for a combined total of €126m (£111m). But now the club are having to sell assets due to their financial problems. And according to Yahoo Sport, United are planning to take advantage with a swoop for Bonucci. The Italian stalwart was made club captain upon his arrival at the San Siro last summer. But Milan’s sixth-place finish means key players are likely to be moved on. Bonucci has been identified as a potential target by Jose Mourinho, who is hoping to shore up his defence ahead of the new Premier League season.  Toby Alderweireld and Jose Gaya have also been linked with moves to Old Trafford this summer. But it is unclear whether Tottenham and Valencia are willing to part ways with the defenders. United have already secured the signings of Fred from Shakhtar Donetsk and Diogo Dalot from Porto.
