The fate of the trophy would have to be decided by a penalty shootout.
Juventus successfully netted at all five times of asking. Di Vaio, Trezeguet, Birindelli, Camoranesi and Ferrara kept their cool in a high pressure atmosphere to give the club their fourth Super Cup triumph.
